ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Due to organisational growth, the role of Head of Technology has been created, based in Melbourne reporting to the CTO.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead & develop individuals and teams, including coaching for development, managing performance & planning and providing ongoing team communication, in line with organisational growth and objectives.

  • Manage & participate in team based workforce planning and onboarding including recruitment & selection, training & development and appraising performance throughout probation period.

  • Act as the primary escalation resource for technical issues within the team.

  • Develop, manage and maintain the development methodology, technical best practices and principles for security/availability (DR)/performance, that the development, infrastructure and QA teams use, and ensure they are adhered to.

  • Maintain information security, identifying shortfalls or problematic areas and implement strategic solutions to support more fully.

  • Oversee and overall be responsible for the technical governance of projects, including identification of risks and assumptions.

  • Work collaboratively with project managers to develop project plans and resource allocation.

  • Support project managers to keep projects on time and on budget.

  • Provide estimations of the development services and infrastructure components and QA required for the entire solution.

  • Manage and maintain PromisePay services as per customer agreed and internal SLA’s.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Significant prior experience in a Head of Technology or Senior Development Manager role & relevant tertiary qualifications.

  • Demonstrated prior experience leading and developing individuals and teams, including the recruitment & onboarding of team members.

  • Previous experience coaching individuals, managing & appraising performance and developing teams for performance.

  • Previous experience working in a banking or financial institution or similar environment, with experience in the payments sector being highly desirable.

  • Working knowledge and experience with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Demonstrated experience in Ruby on Rails programming.

  • Prior working experience liaising with remote/distributed teams.

  • Ability to work to high levels of autonomy, accountability and ownership of tasks and workload.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and customer stakeholders across a diverse range of technical expertise and seniority.
